Los Cantos de Maldoror

Script: Antonio Hernández Palacios

Art: Antonio Hernández Palacios

To commemorate the centenary of Hernández Palacios' birth, the original illustrations for Les Chants de Maldoror —the visionary poems published in 1869 by Isidore Ducasse, better known as the Comte de Lautréamont— have been compiled for the first time in one volume. The work visually interprets the first of the six poetic songs, capturing the surreal and haunting tone of Ducasse’s writing through stunning imagery.

This edition presents the black-and-white drawings as originally conceived by the artist, without the added colours featured in the version published in Métal Hurlant in1982. When he was commissioned this work by the magazine, Palacios was at the height of his career.

Key Points:

  • Hernández Palacios delights us with his timeless style
